FCT Education Secretariat Finalises Sexual Violence Reporting and Management Framework for FCT Schools

Teenage Network joined experts in girls’ education at the First African Union Conference on Girls’ Education that held in Ethiopia between 2nd-5th July 2024. The conference assessed the status of girls’ and women’s education in Africa, explored ways to accelerate the implementation of gender-responsive education policy frameworks, and amplified the African Union Campaign #AfricaEducatesHer. The Gender at the Centre Initiative (GCI) by the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative (UNGEI) and UNESCO IIEP was an important component of the program as it promotes gender responsive education planning across 8 African Countries.

Teenage Network represented by the Programs Officer moderated the Gender at the Centre side event which had the Honourable Minister for Primary Education Uganda, the secretary of State for Education Chad, the UNESCO Chairperson, Martin Benavides (IIEP-UNESCO Director) and the Eline Versluys (GCI Program Lead for UNGEI) sharing the lessons from GCI and its future directions.

Through this platform, the Teenage Network stated the need for African leaders to prioritize the reintegration of out-of-school adolescent mothers into school programs.

Teenage Network remains committed to promoting equitable and safe education for girls.
